Chaka Khan is calling Chicago's street renaming tribute "the biggest honor" she's ever received.
WGN-TV says the singer was on hand Saturday for the official street sign unveiling in Chicago's Hyde Park, in which a portion of Blackstone Avenue was designated Chaka Khan Way. Chaka admitted at the event that she was very flattered, and felt it might be more recognition than she really deserves.
Khan later tweeted that it was "a very proud moment" for her, and that she was thrilled to be able to share the experience with her mother. Chicago also issued a proclamation naming Sunday Chaka Khan Day. The honors are in celebration of Chaka's 40th anniversary in music. Khan said thanks with a free concert at Chicago's Millennium Park on Sunday.
